Carbon & Digital Record Terms
How R-Leaf distinguishes application records, modelled or measured outcomes, future reservations and registry-issued carbon credits.
Last updated: 26 October 2026
Evidence levels are different
R-Leaf records can show different evidence levels. Modelled means an outcome calculated using the identified model and inputs. Measured means field measurements have been recorded using an identified protocol/provider. Independently measured means the measurement provider is independent of Crop Intellect. Verified means the stated evidence has undergone the defined third-party assurance/verification process. Registry issued is reserved for units actually issued by the identified carbon-crediting registry.
Digital Climate Records
A Digital Climate Record is a Crop Intellect traceability and evidence record linking product supply, application information and, where available, a quantified climate outcome. Unless the record expressly says otherwise, it is not an independently verified greenhouse-gas statement and is not a registry-issued carbon credit.
Application information
Crop Intellect may confirm product authenticity, order/batch information and information within its own records. Application details supplied by a grower/customer remain declared information unless the record states that additional evidence or independent confirmation has been obtained.
Climate outcome allocation
Where a Digital Climate Record makes a quantified climate outcome available for allocation, Crop Intellect may record assignment and retirement in its internal ledger to reduce the risk of double use. This internal allocation/retirement mechanism does not convert the outcome into a registry-issued carbon credit and does not itself determine how a third party may account for that outcome.
Registry-issued credits
A unit is offered as an issued carbon credit only where the relevant registry record confirms issuance and Crop Intellect has published available inventory. The registry record is authoritative for issuance, serials, ownership/holding, transfer and retirement information. Buyers are responsible for ensuring that any claims they make are appropriate for their jurisdiction, accounting framework and purpose.
Future reservations
A future reservation or forward-purchase record concerns expected future project volume. It is not an issued credit, cannot be retired or transferred as a current carbon credit, and must not be used as evidence of a current offset or registry-issued unit. Actual delivery depends on monitoring, verification, registry issuance and the commercial agreement. Shortfall, replacement, refund, pro-rata delivery or other treatment is governed by the signed agreement.
Payment and VAT
Commercial terms, price and VAT treatment are stated in the relevant quotation, proforma, transaction record or agreement and are applied according to applicable law at the time of supply.
Verification pages and documents
Public verification pages and downloadable statements are evidence interfaces. They may reproduce information from Crop Intellect records and link to registry evidence. Where a registry is involved, the registry remains the authoritative source for issued-credit status and retirement/transfer.
No guarantee of accounting treatment
Crop Intellect does not guarantee that a modelled, measured, internally allocated, verified or registry-issued outcome will receive a particular treatment under a buyer’s carbon-accounting framework, Scope 3 programme, farm calculator, disclosure standard or claim code. Customers should obtain appropriate professional advice and follow the rules of the framework they use.
